Oral History as a Source for Reconstructing the Size and Lifestyle of Serbian Families on Mt. Kozara on the Eve of World War II
Abstract: The paper "Oral History as a Source for Reconstructing the Size and Lifestyle of Serbian Families on Mt. Kozara on the Eve of World War II" is thematically focused on the analysis of oral testimonies that enable the reconstruction of the demographic structure, family organization, and everyday life of the Serbian population of Kozara prior to the Second World War. Special emphasis is placed on the size of families, their composition, economic status, means of livelihood, and internal family relations. This is analyzed within the context of the lack of reliable and accessible census data, a void that has led to varying interpretations and polemics within historiography regarding the demographic structure of this region.
