Mirko Dimic

Biography

Biography: Mirko Dimić was born in 1988 in Bosanska Dubica. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kozarska Dubica. In 2015, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Department of History, at the University of Banja Luka. He has been employed at the Public Institution "Memorial Area Donja Gradina" since 2016. He passed the professional exam for curators before the Commission of Parent Museums of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo in 2017. In 2022, he obtained the title of senior curator before the same commission. His research focuses on execution sites and crimes committed against the Serbian population in Kozarska Dubica during the period 1941–1945.

THE SUFFERING OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE VILLAGE OF PUCARI DURING WORLD WAR II

Abstract: This paper examines the suffering of the civilian population of the village of Pucari during World War II. An example of the suffering of a micro-unit within the municipality of Kozarska Dubica, which lost over 50% of its pre-war population during World War II. The author analyses a list of victims by name, revealing that the majority of the village’s residents perished in the Jasenovac Concentration Camp and the Zemun Concentration Camp. The paper also provides a historical overview of the village. The paper is based on field investigations, archival materials, and published literature. So far, no prior research has been dedicated to this topic.
